Getting Started: Create Your Character

There are five components to creating a character

  1. Create a character

The first step in creating your character is choosing what type of character you are. Each character type comes with preset pool of points: might, speed, and intellect

    1. Choose a type: Fighter, Technician, Explorer, Adept
      1. Fighters (10m, 10sp, 8int) are strong and physical and can attack up close
      2. Technicians (7m, 9sp, 12int) are intelligent and can attack from far away
      3. Explorers (10m, 9sp, 9int) are balanced and can offer strong attacks and knowledgeable
      4. Adepts (8m, 9sp, 11int) are highly intelligent and charismatic and can attack from far away

Second, choose a descriptor of what kind of character type you are. Your choice may add additional points to your talent pool. For example, if you chose Fighter which has 10 speed, a Swift Fighter adds +2 points to your speed, making it 12 speed.

Next, choose your character's flavor. If you choose a combat style, that grants you the three initial skills of Danger Sense, Practiced in Armor, and Practiced with Medium Weapons. Additional skills are added as you level up.

Finally, choose your character's focus. This should generally be a good match with everything chosen before. In our example, a Swift Combat Fighter, might have "Stand Like a Bastion" because of its natural ability to be an impenetrable wall of armor and strength. It's less likely that "Operates Undercover" is a good fit as the Swift Combat Fighter is most likely a highly visible, powerful force. However, there are no restrictions, so if "Operates Undercover" works, choose it.

Example:

  1. Stands Like a Bastion: Tier 1: Practiced in Armor, Experienced Defender
    1. Practiced in Armor: You can wear armor for long periods of time without tiring and can compensate for slowed reactions from wearing armor. You reduce the Speed cost for wearing armor by 1. You start the game with a type of armor of your choice. Enabler.
    2. Experienced Defender: When wearing armor, you gain +1 to Armor. Enabler.

You have now created a Swift Combat Fighter who Stands Like a Bastion

Optionally, you can start the game with a profession in an industry of your choosing, a favorite sports franchise, and a personal AI companion (called Neuros)
